The Beginning E stablished in 1705, Hallow Oaks started as a small, fishing village with one pier, but now is home to commercial fisherman and expensive million dollar yachts, though it has been widely known for its large quantity of Oak trees surrounding the majority of town -rumored to be the source of their power, as well as another famous tourist attraction; the fog. The town was founded by two influential families nearing the end of the Salem Witch Trials; Duke and Blackwood, and have made it into the thriving town it is today. A large portion of the town remains untouched since it's founding years but has accommodated the modern lifestyles of many new residents along its coastline. Hallow Oaks also houses a large community of wealthy landowners that visit every fall, spring, and summer for their beautiful scenery and amazing New England seafood, leaving the colder months for the locals. Though the true reason for the towns establishment is unknown to outsiders, the witches that inhabit the town know that Hallow Oaks was meant to serve as a safe haven for any who needed it and still continues to be so to this day. Any sign of a malevolent supernatural entity has long been gone and any who try must face the wrath of a entire town of witches. All magical creatures are welcome but because of the barrier humans find no luck in finding the town on their own. The few humans that do call the town home are either descendants from one of the witch families or an outsider brought in by a witch or witch family for mating or protection purposes. Though these cases are rare, it is within the Councils jurisdiction to keep the species alive and to prevent incest within the witch families humans have been brought in to keep the bloodlines pure. Most are unaware of their wiccan neighbors or ancestry -as most human families are the result of non-magical children mating with others like them and through the years the magical gene became recessive, as did their memories of their heritage- and any who do remember are within strict orders by the Council to keep the secret true. Humans, unlike other supernatural, cannot cross the fog freely without the company of a witch or magical item or else fear being locked outside of the barrier forever. The Fog A thick layer of condensation surrounds the town like a barricade of white, giving off an eerie feeling that you're being watched. Those with common blood who venture through the fog see Mother Nature’s serene beauty, but nothing else. For witches or other supernatural beings seeking refuge the town is but a mile from the border separating the mundane from the unique. Though any peculiar person can step through this magical wall, because of its seclusion any who dare step foot in the town with ill intent can rest assure they will find no safety within its borders, and any affiliation outside of the town holds no power over whatever may happen within its hidden barrier.

[attr="class","i-template] [attr="class","i-title"] Plot [attr="class","i-content"] The Beginning Established in 1713, Hallow Oaks started as a small, fishing village with one pier. Now it is home to commercial fisherman and wealthy businessmen alike - though it is largely known for its centuries old Oak trees surrounding the proximity of town. The witches who founded the town can be held accountable for the mass amount of trees, as if they were meant to provide a sort of barrier between this town and the neighboring woods. Rumors about the trees spread like wildfire, many claiming them as the source of the Covens power. The trees, even in their magnificence, are only representation of the physical barrier set around the town. The true source of protection - and the only- the town has is the milky white fog so thick you'll never see whats coming for you until it's too late. Though the true reason for the towns establishment is unknown to visitors, the witches that inhabit the town were made to believe that Hallow Oaks was meant to serve as a safe haven for any who needed it and still continues to be so to this day. It is very unncommon for a human within the town borders to be ignorant to magic, but finding non-magical families isn't. Most human families are the result of non-magical children mating with others like them and through the years the magical gene became recessive. Humans, unlike other supernatural, can cross the fog freely without the company of a witch or magical item but their knowledge of anything and anyone within the town will be forgotten until their return. Though any peculiar person can step through this magical wall, because of its seclusion any who dare step foot in the town with ill intent can rest assure they will find no safety within its borders, and any affiliation outside of the town holds no power over whatever may happen within the town line. The Fae call this The Fe-Fiada, or the supernatural mist. Many legends have surfaced since its emergence, though the truth behind them is vastly different than peoples perceptions. Though most stories are fables meant to scare young witches and magi from venturing too far from town, the fog and woods should never be underestimated and should be given the proper respect, and fear, it deserves.

[attr="class","i-template"] [attr="class","i-title"] Sub Plots [attr="class","i-content"] Bitter Rivals A long standing rivalry separates the Lockwoods and the Dukes, both families accusing the other of betrayal and deception as well as the death of many kin over the generations. But the two families weren't always at war, and in fact had been family friends since before the Salem Witch Trials. Death however can either strengthen a bond or break it. The first recorded deaths within the town after the settlement was established were the sons of the Heads of Houses and childhood companions, Jeremiah Duke and Liam Lockwood. In a house filled with females Jeremiah was quick to bond with the youngest Lockwood and since they were able to walk you could never find one without also finding the other. As they grew, so did their bond, as did their magic. The young men were famous for their pranks and tricks but they were never meant to harm, only to entertain their boredom. One day their tricks caught the attention of a certain Fae who found their curiosity both entertaining and useful; the Fae Queen. Taking them under her wing she taught them the ways of Faery magic and how to manipulate like a true Fae, unknowingly taking a huge risk in doing so. When the men caught sight of a beautiful magical box their curious minds got the better of them and with quick hands and light feet stole from the Fae Queen. At the time the men had no idea that the very item they stole was actually a gift to the town from the Fae Council and that by taking it disrespected the contract the Fae held with the Witches. It was through that contract that allowed the Witches to settle on sacred land, the area around the village saturated with so much magic it allowed for the fog barrier to be possible. After relentlessly demanding the return of the magical box the men refused. That very night a mysterious fire broke out near the docks and even to this day no one can definitively prove what the cause was. But after the fire was put out and the smoke cleared two charred bodies were found underneath the burnt rummage; both wearing the family rings with the crest etched into them. When the death of Jeremiah Duke and Liam Lockwood came to pass the era of the ill fated omen began. With each generation a Lockwood and Duke would die every time a friendship was made. The truth behind the 'omen' is known only to those directly involved, but none of them seem to be talking. Because of this centuries old conflict it's common knowledge that the founding families have it out for one another and go so far as to show their hatred with refusing to associate for fear of one of their own becoming victim to the curse. The most recent death could almost be considered a true Romeo and Juliet story. --- Lockwood and --- Duke were high school lovers and were the first to go against the families wishes since Jeremiah and Liam. Legend of the Red Wolf Every town has their stories, mythologies, and scary legends and Hallow Oaks is certainly no exception. One famous Legend amongst the townfolk is the story of a fearsome beast that stalks the forest in search for fresh blood every Red Moon: The Red Wolf. Oak, Ash, and Thorn Fae and Witch truce. Hunting Season Human hunters.
